Yaeji plays into this niche of RnB and House fusion very similar to that of Drake’s summer hit, Passionfruit which is covered on this EP. It could have been made a lot better by a simple key change. For example, the tip toeing droplets on after that make for uneasy listening. But there are other instances during this 18 min tape that you just wonder why it’s there. I think there’s a lot of good ideas on this EP and for the most part they’re executed quite well. Thinking about it it sounds a whole lot better than the English translation (That’s not it) repeated constantly but nonetheless it doesn’t fail to get tiresome before the end.

In this song I think it again adds to the ambience and enjoyability of the track. The hook is sung in yaejis native tongue of Korean. This is followed up by another good track in, drink im sippin on. There’s a real thump to the beat, making it very entertaining.

The conversation with herself alternates between English and Korean which adds another element to her unique sound. Even though lyricism isn’t exactly the most important thing for a track such as this, I like the quirkiness of some of the lines on this. It’s void of anything and loses it’s mystique as a result.īy far the stand out track, raingurl is the most upbeat and out and out techno track. The mellow instrumental is nice and the lyrics are slightly intriguing but the delivery is dead. Feelings change is fittingly short opening track, it knows it’s place.
